Week 3 : How Earth Recycles!

This week we learned all about recycling in nature, as well as the importance of responsible consumption - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! We love repurposing materials for our art projects!

Working on our Predator-Prey mobiles after learning about the food chain!

After discovering these shed palm leaves on a nature walk, campers decided they would make  for a brilliant drawing surface! We experimented with different mediums and concluded that oil pastels work best!

Reusable tote bags - saying NO to plastic bags!

THE GREAT DAISY CHAIN CHALLENGE!

Campers worked as a team all week to create a daisy chain from old Arboretum flyers that spanned the entire perimeter of our classroom, which is HUGE!

The importance of BIODIVERSITY = the variety of life in the world's ecosystems.

Dried Bean Mosaics.

A big hit with our counselors!

One of our favorite pass-times... Nature Installations!

Campers learned about Abstract Expressionism and Action Painting.
Then we created our own Jackson Pollock-inspired paintings in the grass & sunshine!

On Friday we got ready for the 4th of July with festive fire work drawings, using oil pastels & glitter...

... As well as patriotic rockets made from T.P. rolls!
