This week's focus was on the history of southern California & Arcadia, as well as the cultural traditions of Native Americans of the region.
We started out the week with Native American sand paintings..
After collecting materials around the Arboretum, campers made natural paint brushes and then gave them a try with liquid watercolors.

Using natural minerals, all found in California, ground & mixed with water to create our paints.
Did you know that the oldest known paintings were created 40,000 years ago!?!?

During history week, campers had a very special treat... a guided tour of the Queen Anne Cottage!!!

Campers discovered a variety of treasures on their dig... old bones, pottery fragments, precious stones, arrowheads & more!
Water color paintings inspired by Georgia O'Keefe's "Poppies"... campers created their very own floral paintings...
